------ ---Intermediate Peak District

Intermediate Peak District 11-15 April
with Sally

11th April

Chatting in the big lounge at Losehill Hall. This holiday was based at Losehill Hall near Castleton in the Peak District.

Everyone had arrived by 6.30 and after a bit of garden furniture re-arrangement we all sat in the garden with our pre-dinner drinks discussing previous WW holidays everyone had been on.

This was followed by a delicious dinner and then relatively early to bed after our journeys.

12th April

Group photo outside Losehill Hall. The day was sunny and warm - a very pleasant temperature for walking.

We headed for Mam Tor and the Great Ridge via field paths and the old road.

Walking back to Losehill Hall.

From Lose Hill we dropped down to Hope and had well earned refreshments in the Woodbine café, followed by a gentle stroll along the River Noe back to Lose Hill Hall.

We were highly entertained at dinner due to the strange antics of a group from the water board but it's too long a story to recall now!

13th April

Outside the Old Nags Head - the official start of the Pennine Way.Today it was another lovely day and we got the minibus to Edale.

Heading for Ringing Roger.

Starting from the Nags Head - the official start of the Pennine Way - we clambered up Ringing Roger.

After admiring their Belgium Bantams which had feathered feet we continued gently up to Hollins Cross and back to Lose Hill Hall tired but well pleased with ourselves.

A gentle meander in the afternoon brought us to Hope and the tea shop where we were becoming quite well known by now!

15th April

Walking to Blue John Cavern. This was our last day and we had to say an early goodbye to several in the group who had to leave for home.

Near the Blue John Cavern.

The rest of us did a morning walk up past the caverns with a stop for some Bradwell ice cream at the Blue John Cavern.

Peveril Castle above Cavedale.

Women's Feedback

"I thoroughly enjoyed the WW holiday again. The group camaraderie was excellent again and as always, supportive, encouraging with lively conversation. Sally was an excellent guide and the walks - Mam Tor, Kinder Scout and Whin Hill relived past memories of earlier walks" Margaret

"This was my first WalkingWomen holiday. The accommodation was excellent, food was superb. The walks were challenging, very worthwhile, the views beautiful. We were lucky to have had such good weather. Sally was prepared for everything from walking sticks to suncream!! Each evening sally would go through the route we travelled that day along with miles covered. Every ache was earned! Good group of women to walk with, a diverse group. Good fun - lots of sleep, lots of laughs too. Excellent food, visitor's kitchen a bonus" Violet

"Brilliant holiday as always. This is my third WalkingWomen holiday and I look forward to them each year. Perfect combination of walking and relaxing. Our guide was very laid back and easy going. No pressure to do anything. The walks were wonderful, well planned with amazing unexpected tea stops" Janet

"Thoroughly enjoyed the holiday. Beautiful location - Losehill Hall is a lovely place to stay right in the heart of the countryside. All the walks were good, an interesting variety of scenery and just the right length. I'm glad we did the longest walk on the second day, not sure I would have had the energy if we had done it at the end! Sally looked after us very well, managed not to lose anyone and provided me with lots of sticking plasters!! She looked after everyone but in a very relaxed low key sort of way" Heather
