------ ---Gentle Derwent Water w/e

Gentle Derwent Water w/e 28-30 Sept
with Heidi

28th September

We all met in the lounge at How Keld where Heidi talked about the walks and the weekend.

Quite a number of women had never been to the Lake District before nor been on a Walking Women holiday.

We had dinner at the Pheasant Inn where we had a delicious meal. We all felt it was a destination to be recommended if eating in Keswick!

29th September

Setting off walking towards Cat Bells. We set off walking from Keswick round the Lake, past Hawes End and Brandlehow Park towards Grange.

Another group photo by the lake.

Enjoying being near Derwent Water.

National Trust caring hands sculpture.

This is a lovely walk though old beech woods, that includes wonderful views of the Lake and fells, time to sit by the lake and various lovely woodcarvings, which we all appreciated.

Walking across the board walk at the end of the lake.

When we got to Grange some had tea and others ice cream.

Lodore Falls.

We all then headed along the other lake shore to Lodore where most of the group got the boat back to Keswick while 3 of us did the full round trip of the Lake on foot.

Some women went shopping, others had ice cream and we met at 7 for dinner. We ate in the Thai restaurant, which was wonderful. Another place to recommend. After dinner we all went to a café bar for a quiet drink before bed.

30th September

Setting off from Keswick to Castlerigg. We set off from Keswick again this time to Castlerigg Stone Circle via Spring Woods and Castlerigg Farm.

Another group photo.

At Castlerigg Stone Circle.

It windless and very peaceful. At the Stone circle we marvelled at the vista.

Taking lots of photographs.

Enjoying the spirit of the place.

Pausing to take the views.

From there we headed down to the old railway line and found our way back to Keswick. Sadly it was time to go home.

Women's Feedback

"This was the first time I had been on a WalkingWomen weekend but I am hoping that it won't be the last. I went with my neighbour who had been before, but I wasn't really sure what to expect. We discussed with Heidi what type of walk we would like and she couldn't have looked after us better. She gave us lots of advice and I can't say that there was anything I didn't like about the holiday. We did two very different walks, both very enjoyable. Heidi was so relaxed (which made us relaxed), but she kept her eyes on each one of us giving advice that will stay with me forever. It was a fantastic weekend". Jean

"Excellent holiday, I couldn't have wished for better. Heidi is a star! She accommodated everyone's needs, choices and foibles wonderfully. Her 'better walking' tips were greatly appreciated by all". Jenny

"I thought it was just right for my needs as this was my first time on a walking holiday. It met all my expectations, just so much fun. I had no problems with anything, it was great!". Lesley

"Enjoyed it very much. Good company, everyone friendly. Lovely setting. Good hotel with great breakfasts. Walks at right pace, interesting and invigorating. Heidi was great, always had time, set the scene well and looked after us". Gill
