17-22 May Spring Lakes Lesbian
Break 2008 Full |
| All grades - Glenthorne G/H in
Grasmere |
|
| 5 nights full board:
£405 |
The original WW Lesbian Break is
moving to May in 2008, a wonderful time of year for walks at all levels in the
Lake District - Gentle, Intermediate & High Level..
Fuller detail
A chance to walk and spend
time in an all-lesbian group. Most women come on their own and it's always
friendly. There will be a wide choice of walks each day so that you can stretch
or take it easy according to how you feel. There are gentle walks mainly in the
valleys - beside streams and lakes, or climbing low hills for the view.
Intermediate walks can range from wonderful ridge walks to secluded swimming
lakes in the hills! Or you can set your sights on some of England's highest
'fells' - Helvellyn, the Fairfield Horseshoe, Bow Fell, or the dramatic
Langdale Pikes.
Glenthorne Guest House where
we'll be staying is gay friendly and we've run many lesbian holidays from here,
taking all the rooms. The bedrooms are mostly ensuite with plenty of
singles. There's a comfortable lounge, conservatory, and a lovely garden for
sitting out in after walking. The food is excellent here! If you want to take a
day off from walking, there's lots to see and do in the area. After walking
there can be outdoor shops and tea shops to visit, games of whatever we choose,
trips to the pub, a party on one evening, or space to just sit around talking.

Fuller detail Here's a new WW
lesbian break taking all the rooms at Losehill Hall near Castleton where the
landscapes of the White and the Dark Peak meet. There will be Gentle, Low
Intermediate & Intermediate walks to choose from each day, exploring the
dales and ridges of this wonderful area: fascinating Cavedale, Edale, and the
Hope river valley; the great ridge of Rushup Edge and Mam Tor, the Kinder Edges
with their rocky ourcrops, or the Abney Moor circuit finishing with great ice
cream at Bradwell! Losehill Hall is a lovely old Victorian mansion set in its
own extensive grounds and run on eco-centre lines (everything is recycled,
ensuite showers instead of baths, communal tea/coffee facilities, and there's
even a courtesy taxi from Hope station to encourage rail travel). The Hall has
a good bar, a comfortable lounge, and the food served in the dining room is
truly excellent. Ensuite twins, ensuite doubles & smaller ensuite singles

7-10 November Lesbian Bonfire w/e
2008 |
| Low Intermediate - Lulworth youth hostel
|
|
| 3 nights full board (ex. 1
evening meal): £175 |
A bonfire w/e with a difference -
staying at Lulworth youth hostel near the beautiful Dorset Coast with Low
Intermediate walks (and a bonfire on the beach!)
Fuller detail
In 2008, Lesbian Bonfire is
moving south - to Lulworth YH on the edge of West Lulworth, a mile inland from
oyster-shaped Lulworth Cove. From here we will superb Dorset coastal paths to
choose from in each direction - to Stair Hole and Durdle Door, or to beautiful
Mupes Bay and beyond in the other direction. On one day we might also walk
along the Purbeck ridge, finishing with a spectacular view of the Corfe Castle
ruins. There will be 2 groups each day walking at different paces, however both
walks will necessarily be at the upper end of the Low Intermediate grade with
plenty of 'up's and 'downs following the nature of this stunning coast.
Lulworth YH is a small, purpose-built hostel, single storey and cedar clad,
with rooms that sleep from 4-6 in bunk beds. For this
bonfire break we have taken the whole hostel for WW, sharing the cooking except
for the night that we go out to eat in a local pub or restaurant (not included
- from £15). On another night we can build a bonfire on the beach and
bake potatoes for our supper! (Weather permitting. Small fireworks only - and
no 'bangers' please)
