will again be based at comfortable Saints Bay Hotel, which is located just back
from the cliffs of Icart Point. From here we will have immediate access to
Guernsey's spectacular coastal path in each direction - with all that a
'coastal path' implies (stunning sea views, cliffs & coves, and more ups
and downs than some low intermediate walks). We will reach other walks around
the island by minibus or by public bus, and take day trips by ferry to the
smaller islands of Sark and Herm nearby (weather permitting). Guernsey can be
reached by plane from several mainland airports, or by Condor ferry from

21-28 Apr - High Intermediate La
Gomera |
| Hotel, pension & rooms - Marian -
Canaries |
|
| 7 nights part board, flight,
ferry & all transport: £695 |
An exciting trek around the circular
island of La Gomera in the Canaries. Grand rock monoliths, exotic flowers, sea
cliffs plunging to crystal clear waters... La Gomera has it all! (Day pack only
throughout)
Fuller detail
La Gomera is one of the smallest of the inhabited Canary islands, 30
minutes south of Tenerife by ferry. Few places in the world have the natural
wealth of this circular volcanic island: misty northern laurel forests,
scorched canyons, grand rock monoliths, palm groves, and sea cliffs plunging to
crystal clear water below. Ancient tracks and trails thread through this
landscape, allowing us to make an anti-clockwise circuit of the central
volcanic massif, Alto de Garajonay. After a first hotel night in San Sebastian,
we'll walk from Agulo to Vallehermosa, staying here at another comfortable
small hotel for 2 nights to allow a stunning sea cliff
walk in this corner of the island. We then ascend to characterful
Pension Sonia in Chipude, high on the central massif and close to the summit.
The next day is long but breathtaking, descending to Playa Santiago on the
sunny south coast for 2 nights in apartments by the sea - a wonderful place to
take a rest day or catch a boat trip around the island. From here our last
day's walk back to San Sebastian is striking. We then have a last night in San
Sebastian to celebrate before catching the ferry back to Tenerife for our
flights home. Guided by Marian. (You carry a day pack only - luggage is
transported).

23-26 Apr - Gentle Suffolk
|
| Inn - Madeline - Dunwich |
|
| 3 nights part board:
£270 |
A gentle natural history break guided
by Madeline, based on the Suffolk Coast near Minsmere Nature Reserve.
Fuller detail
The Suffolk Coast is an Area of Outstanding
Natural Beauty, and centred along this coastal stretch is the ancient
settlement of Dunwich - once the seat of kings facing the North Sea. Later it
became a thriving port and ship building harbour with the power to elect 2
members of Parliament. However, over the centuries the sea has made serious
incursions along this stretch, and in the 14th century alone 400 houses, 2
churches, and several windmills 'succumbed to tempests'. Today Dunwich is
reduced to a quiet village on the edge of the sea with a fascinating history, a
small museum, and a ruined priory. Gentle paths fan out from the village
through Minsmere Nature Reserve, to the pretty estuary village of Walberswick,
or inland through fields and woodlands. In Dunwich we will be staying at The
Ship Inn - a former coaching inn which offers (recently upgraded) ensuite twin
and single rooms, and excellent pub fare in the evenings. Darsham station is 5

A holiday that covers the first

containing plenty of 'ups' and 'downs' as we walk classic Pembrokeshire
stretches of stunning sea cliffs, this first section is gentler overall as it
also includes the long bays of Tenby, Freshwater East and Angle. As such it
makes a good introduction to the Path although the days are still up to 13
miles in length. For this holiday we will be based at East Trewent Farm which
women really enjoyed last year. Located midpoint along our route, the farm
offers a mix of ensuite and standard twin and single rooms. Each day we will

2-9 May - Low Intermediate Mull
1 |
| Small hotel - Fran - Scotland |
|
| 7 nights full board, includes
trip to Iona : £650 |
A wonderful week exploring some of
Fran's favourite walks on Mull, staying in a comfortable women-run B&B
above a lovely deserted cove with views to die for!
Fuller detail
Mull is one of the largest of the Hebridean
islands off the west coast of Scotland. It has a long and strikingly beautiful
coastline of high cliffs and bays, with caves and rock arches, and views out to
the many smaller islands that surround it. Most notable of these is the 'Holy
Isle' of Iona where we will walk on one day. Another rewarding visit might be
to cathedral-like Fingle's Cave on the island of Staffa, whose geometrical
basalt pillars have even inspired a Mendelssohn overture! On other days we will
take beautiful walks along Mull's coastline, stopping at sandy bays, or walking
to other famous caves and rock features. Inland, our eyes will often be drawn
to the island's only munro, Ben Mor, and from a walk over its lower shoulder
there will be striking views back to the coast. We will be staying at women-run
Ardachy House Hotel on the south coast, overlooking the deserted sands of
Ardalanish Bay and the islands of Jura, Colonsay, and Islay. Iona is only 7
miles away; seals, otters and the elusive Corncrake are regular visitors to the
area, and there is a standing stone and Iron Age fort close by. The hotel
offers comfortable ensuite twin, double, and single bedrooms, and some of the
bedrooms and the residents' lounge have a lovely view towards the sea. Mull is
reached by train from Glasgow to Oban, then a magical ferry to Craignure on
Mull, & local bus from the ferry to Bunassen where Maggie & Cathy will
collect you. Guided by Fran.

| 7 nights - incl.
flight & all except the meals: £675 |
Coast paths above the emerald sea,
stunning gorges including famous Samaria, and a tranquil, unspoilt place to
stay that you wouldn't think existed any more. Guided by Diana.
Fuller detail
Here is an opportunity with
Diana to spend a relaxed week in Crete, exploring some of the gorges and coast
paths in the south of this magical island. May is a delightful month to walk in
Crete - when the sun is not too hot and the island is still green with many
wild flowers and aromatic herbs. We'll be staying on the south coast in Maria
and Christina's lovely ensuite sea-view Oasis Rooms at Polirizos beach - a tiny
un-spoilt hamlet beside a cove consisting of little more than a few tavernas.
From here, there are beautiful coastal paths above the emerald sea - stopping
for a dip if we please, and we'll visit the amazing gorges of Imbros and famous
Samaria - taking a bus and taxi via Hania to Samaria, and starting our descent
later than most so that we have its amazing scenery virtually to ourselves. At
the bottom of the gorge, we will stay for a night at Agia Roumeli's Hotel
Calypso, and walk back along the coast via Loutro the next day. There will also
be a day-off from walking to enjoy the beautiful beach around the headland -
where you can swim as topless or bottomless as you wish!
Maria and Christina's Oasis
Rooms are comfortable and ensuite, with a balcony overlooking the sea, and a
kitchen area for breakfast. It is much simpler here to each buy our own food
for breakfast & packed lunches - much of which we can do at a good
supermarket on our way from the airport. We can then ask Maria to order us
fresh bread daily for breakfast, and we can buy butter, honey, yoghurt, cheese,
tomatoes and anything else we need at the little shop in Rothakino. In the
evenings we'll eat out at the tavernas by the sea (from £8). (Ensuite
single suppl. £10 a night)

16-22 May - High Level
Rum |
| Castle hostel & bothy - Fran -
Scotland |
|
| 6 nights full board:
£490 |
This high level holiday with Fran is
to the beautiful and mysterious isle of Rum off the west coast of Scotland....
a total Scottish walking experience!
Fuller detail
Rum is a diamond shaped jewel
of a place - an island of the Inner Hebrides of spectacular wildness and
beauty. Its glaciated 'cullins' (high rocks) Askival, Hellival, Trollaval, and
Orval, started life near the equator, and are the shattered remnants of a once
huge volcano. Apart from its incredible scenery, Rum has been a nature reserve
for over 40 years. We may be lucky and see otters fishing along the shores of
Loch Scresort, or red deer and wild goats in the heather as we walk. Golden
eagles often soar above the Cullins, while Shearwaters nest on their slopes and
skim the sea in significant numbers. There are many fabulous high walks to
choose from here, often off-path through the heather - along high cliffs
overlooking the sea, onto peaks with stunning views, or looking north to the
Skye Cullins from beautiful Kilmory Sands. To access the best parts of this
island, we will stay for 2 nights in a bothy,
walking there low level with 3 days' food and gear,
living in very simple bothy conditions with water from a nearby stream and
sleeping mats on the floor - a real Scottish walking experience! The rest of
the time our base will be the hostel in extraordinary Kinloch Castle near Loch
Scresort. Trains run from Glasgow to Malaig, and from Malaig you catch the
regular Rum ferry which is a magical journey in itself.

23-26 May - Gentle Wye Valley
|
| Hotel - Jo M - Monmouthshire -
Wales |
|
| 3 nights full board:
£295 |
A new hotel for this popular 3-night
break on the borders of England and Wales - staying in Offa's Dyke country near
Tintern Abbey...
Fuller detail
This year we are moving our
Wye Valley holiday to the Royal George Hotel near Tintern Abbey where quality
ensuite double rooms are available as singles. This lovely area is steeped in
history, and rich in wildlife, archaeology, and industrial remains. Here the
River Wye forms the boundary between England and Wales, and King Offa built his
famous dyke near the English bank. In places ancient woodland clings to the
steep sides of dramatic limestone gorge, while elsewhere the river is boarded
by tranquil meadows. Our first walk will take us across the river and up to
Brockweir Bridge before returning along the opposite bank. There is a local
vineyard to visit, and we can stop for tea and home-made cakes at the old
station. On other days we'll take the bus and walk to the spectacular Eagle's
Nest viewpoint or explore historic tracks towards Angidy. After walking we can
explore Tintern village with its abbey, old pubs, tourist shops and craft
galleries. Tintern is easy to reach by road or rail - close to the M4 & M5,
or a 6-mile taxi or bus ride from Chepstow station. (Ensuite single supplement
£15 a night).

on its way over Fountains Fell to Pen-y-ghent, and across the moors are paths
to fascinating Malham Cove and the lively small town of Settle with its
tearooms and small shops. High Trenhouse offers many single rooms - a boon for
WW groups - and most have ensuite facilities. There are comfortable spaces for
relaxing or making our own fun including a small honesty bar. The food is
delicious, and there's even a sauna and Jacuzzi - so bring your swimsuit! A

£325 |
4 wonderful days in the Lake District
exploring all that the Grasmere fells have to offer at Intermediate
level.
Fuller detail
We will be able to get off
the beaten track this bank holiday exploring some of the lesser known
Intermediate walks around Grasmere. Wild Blea Rigg is always wonderfully
deserted despite its stunning views of the Langdale Pikes from the top.
Grasmere Common is another little known ridge walk - overlooking Easedale Tarn,
with wild Far Easedale for our descent. We can also take one of the quieter
routes up the Langdale Pikes, or explore some of the smaller paths on Loughrigg
Fell - whatever we feel like and have time for. Glenthorne Guest House in
Grasmere offers comfortable rooms and plenty of singles, a lovely garden for
after walking, and excellent food - including free tea and cakes...! Guided by

23-27 May - Slow High & High
Level Snowdonia |
| Centre - Anita & Jane -
Wales |
|
| 4 nights full board:
£310 |
A double group holiday in the
beautiful Nantlle valley of Snowdonia allowing you to stretch as much as you
want with 2 walks to choose from each day at Slow High and High Level.
Fuller detail
This holiday with Anita & Jane offers
an exciting choice of Slow High and High Level mountain walks off the beaten
track in the Snowdonia National Park. Slow High walks have the ascent and
length of High Level walks, but are taken at a more intermediate pace. You can
choose which grade suits you best - and change walks if need be. For this
holiday we will be based in the lovely Nantlle Valley at friendly Trigonos
Centre - perfect for WW groups with attractive twin rooms and plenty of
singles. The glorious Nantlle ridge - one of the best ridge walks in Wales -
will be right on our doorstep. Moel Hebog near Beddgelert is another likely
cho ice - steep but rewarding with breathtaking views of Snowdon. We can
also tackle the lesser used Snowdon Ranger path up the back of Snowdon,
returning over Moel Cynghorion with Llyn Cwellyn lying below. This would leave
nearby Mynydd Mawr as an obvious choice for the last day. Trigonos Centre is
set in its own grounds near Nantlle lake, and is accessible by 4pm bus from
Bangor station.
