You arrive on the Friday afternoon or early evening - hopefully in time for supper, walk on Saturday and Sunday, finishing a little early on the Sunday to allow time for the journey home.

Here's a weekend break with Beryl within easy reach of the South, exploring the lovely Cotswold hills from Cleeve Hill near Cheltenham.

Walking on Cleeve Hill.Within easy reach of the South, the Cotswolds is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with sleepy villages built of mellow Cotswold stone, and rolling hills full of delightful low level walks. These breaks are based at the very comfortable and friendly Cleeve Hill House Hotel which lies only 100 yards from the Cotswold Way at Cleeve Hill and shares the same superb vantage point. From here we can make a wide meandering circuit of Cleeve Hill with views in all directions, or there's a lovely walk from the un-spoilt village of Winchcombe, stopping to see Hailes Abbey ruins and the gardens at Sudeley Castle. Several shorter possibilities will remain for an extra Friday afternoon walk if you can arrive by 1pm. The Cleeve Hill House Hotel is beautifully decorated with lovely ensuite rooms - mainly doubles that we can take as singles, and two attractive and spacious twin rooms with very good views. In the evening we can eat at the hotel on one night or sample good eating places nearby (Evening meals are not included - from £15). Cleeve Hill is 15 minutes by taxi from Cheltenham station. (Extra nights: £ B&B).

Delightful low intermediate walks from Grasmere when the fox gloves will be out everywhere.

Sour Milk Gill waterfall partway through the walk.This weekend break of Low Intermediate rambles with Brenda is based at friendly Glenthorne Guest House in Grasmere. Over these 2 days we might head as far as Ambleside 'under' Loughrigg and back through Rydal Hall grounds, or choose a lovely circuit of Loughrigg Fell via pretty Loughrigg Tarn. There is also a classic low intermediate walk from neighbouring Elterwater along stretches of the Cumbria Way through Little Langdale. The weekend is based at Glenthorne Guest House in Grasmere - always a favourite with its comfortable rooms, good food, and wonderful views from the garden in 3 directions!

Our new venue in the village of Frampton Mansell offers a delightful selection of Low Intermediate Cotswolds walks.

Cotswolds view.The Cotswolds have proved very sought after so we have found another lovely place to stay with delightful walks from the door. This weekend break has Low Intermediate walks staying at the Crown Inn near to Cirencester and Stroud in the lovely village of Frampton Mansell. The Crown Inn offers plenty of comfortable and recently renovated ensuite singles and twins away from the bar in a separate annex. Our walks will take us down into the 'Golden Valley' beside the old Thames & Severn Canal and the River Frome - a delightful sample of Cotswolds beauty enhanced by pools, lakes, and streams. We can also head across the Golden Valley and along the ridge of the Cotswolds beyond..... On Friday there can be an extra walk if you arrive by 1pm - possibly exploring Cirencester Park and the lovely town of Cirencester with its Corinium Museum. Kemble station or mainline Stroud station are only 7 miles away by taxi. There is also plenty of parking if you come by car.

A new weekend destination in the South - staying near to Chichester between the sea and the South Downs.

Bosham duck pond.Earnley Concourse center is located close to Chichester within easy reach of the South Downs and the coast. Earnley is a great new WW venue - offering plenty of comfortable ensuite singles (£10 a night ensuite single supplement), a good sized lounge, beautiful grounds, and even an indoor heated swimming pool! For our Gentle walks we can head across the fields to Pagham Harbour and 13th century St Wilfrid's Chapel on one day. On the other we'll have transport the short way to Itchenor, the take the little Itchenor ferry across the creek so that we can walk to the pretty villlage of Bosham beside Chichester harbour - and Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. On Friday there can be an extra afternoon walk if you can arrive by 1pm - possibly gently up onto the Downs from East Lavant for striking views over Goodwood Racecourse. Chichester station is 10-15 mins by taxi, or the center has plenty of parking.

The Dove valley.This weekend break with Sarah is based in the ancient village of Hartington in Derbyshire and will allow us to explore walks in the beautiful Upper Dove Valley. Our paths beside the river will take us into spectacular limestone scenery, perhaps climbing to the unspoilt village of Alstonfield on one day, or heading north to the quiet upper reaches of the Manifold River on the other. Our accommodation will be in ensuite singles, ensuite twins, and one triple bedroom with shared facilities at the exceptionally comfortable 4* Hartington Hall youth hostel. Hartington Hall is a magnificent 17th century manor house with log fires, oak paneling, excellent food (+ table licence), and a bedroom where Bonnie Prince Charlie once slept. Hartington village is easily reached by bus from both Buxton and Matlock stations. You can arrive at any time of day, and there can be an extra walk on Friday if you arrive by 1pm. Dinner is served from 6-10pm, but we will aim to eat together at 7pm. (Single supplement £5 a night).

Looking down on Durdle Door.This Lulworth weekend is based at the Cromwell House Hotel in Lulworth Cove and are spaced throughout the year. It will allow us to sample the beautiful Dorset coast, taking the path from the village to Durdle Door and beyond on one day, and walking to stunning Mupes Bay on the other. If you can arrive by 1pm on Friday, there can be an extra walk inland from the Cove. (These coastal walks are all well within the Low Intermediate grade, but may involve more 'up' and 'down' than some other Low Intermediate destinations we offer). Cromwell House is a comfortable 2 star hotel 200m from the sea front with ensuite twin and single rooms available. The hotel also has a swimming pool which is heated from May to October, a bar and a separate comfortable lounge with a log fire for cooler months. The food here is excellent - all freshly prepared, and accompanied by an extensive wine list. Dorset cream tea with home-made scones and real clotted cream are a hotel speciality! The dining room has patio doors leading onto a south-facing terrace and garden. Lulworth Cove is easy to reach - a short taxi ride from Wool station on the Waterloo to Weymouth line.

On the Langdale Pikes.An autumn w/e for some great high walks from Grasmere - choosing between the Fairfield Horseshoe with its striking views towards Striding Edge, or Helvellyn via Grisedale Tarn with all of Thirlmere before us as we descend. Then on the Sunday there will hopefully be time for the Langdale Pikes from Great Langdale or the wonderful Helm Crag ridge before travelling home - so don't book your train home too early! The weekend is based at Glenthorne Guest House in Grasmere which has lovely rooms and plenty of singles, excellent food, and a large garden with views in 3 directions.
