We return to a much loved WalkingWomen hotel in the heart of Andorra.This holiday will give you the chance to walk amongst the Pyrenees in the season where we can see beautiful alpine flowers. You will also experience the Andorran culture and cuisine all guided by our local women guide. This can be a 1 week or a 2 week holiday as we are at the lovely family run Hotel Coma from June 1st to June 15th and the walks will be varied so you can discover the beauty of Andorra as we walk to the borders with Spain and France over the 2 weeks - let us know if you would like to book both weeks.










SUMMARY

Walking Grade: 2 Goats. There will be options to do more stretching walks and in the second week we will do different walks.
Base: Hotel Coma an old favourite of WalkingWomen, Ordino in the heart of the Pyrenees. It is a walk into the small town where there are lots of cafes and restaurants. The hotel has an outdoor swimming pool (open if weather permits )and gardens for sitting and looking at the mountains.
Arrivals: Fly to Barcelona to arrive for a group transfer leaving approx 3pm. The journey is approx 3 hours to our hotel in Ordino. We arrive for a welcome briefing and dinner together at the hotel.
Departures: For the return journey we will leave the hotel after breakfast so return flights best after 3pm on Sat June 10th. The journey is approximately 3 hours from the aiport to Ordino and a group airport transfer is included in the price.

DETAILS
This holiday is located in the picturesque town of Ordino which is home to museums and the starting point of many varied walks to explore the Andorra side of the Pyrenees and surrounding area. Our walks will give you a spectacular introduction to Andorra,or if you have been before, a chance to rediscover the beautiful country.
In June there maybe opportunities to swim in the many lakes although they can be freezing!
Our hotel is known for charming Andorran hospitality and traditional cuisine. It has a swimming pool , tennis courts and has a restaurant and beautiful terrace with views of the mountains. The pool may not be open in June depending on the weather.
There is an indoor sports centre a 10 minute walk away which was well used last year. It is open from 7am in the morning until 8pm sometimes later. There is a large pool and spa facilities including an ice bucket!

ITINERARY
The itinerary may change depending on the weather and at the discretion of our guide. There are options to shorten walks and turn back or do more stretching walks. We will discuss with you each day.
The walks give you an opportunity to explore this wonderful area
Day 1 Arrival in Andorra – settle in to your hotel, meet the guide and have a pre dinner briefing about the week. Dinner together at the hotel.
Day 2 Tristaina Circuit 400m ascent and descent. 5km. We walk around the glacial circuit on a path,with some rocky parts, to walk high up in the mountains with stunning views. There may be an option of a cable car but it does depending on weather as it does not run if weather is bad.
Day 3 Estanyo Lake 550m. 6km. We walk in the natural park of Sorteny exceptional for its variety of flora. There are many tales of witches and ancient traditions to be heard.
Day 4 Cabana Sorda Lake 450m. 7km. A round walk in the Incles Valley, one of the most beautiful valleys in Andorra. The route climbs up by a stream to reach alpine meadows and the glacial lake. A fantastic picnic spot loved by all in 2023. The descent back down to The Valley takes us through a pine forest.
Day 5 Free day for relaxing. We will offer a variety of options to explore more locally . There is a beautiful river walk , more restaurants to try and the other towns nearby to visit. Or time to relax at the spa or in the cosy hotel.
Day 6 Pla de L’Estany 500m ascent. 6km on a circular route through the mountains to visit a mountain hut and return back to Arinsal village – a typical local village.
Day 7 Rialp Valley, Blue Lake 615 m. 10km . We climb up to the border with France, a col with beautiful views down to the Blau Lake in France. There is a possibility to walk down to the Lake with a descent of 100metres.
Day 8 Departure – we leave approx 8am to allow for traffic. There is a local bus service to Barcelona Airport which the hotel can arrange for you if you would like to travel at a different time. This will be an additional cost to you of approx 40 euros.
