Sometimes the winter feels a little dark so we want to brighten it up with a mini break to the lively city of Dublin. We visit just after St Brigid’s Day which is marked as the beginning of spring in Ireland. What better way to start Spring than with a little bit of Irish luxury and pampering to revive and lift spirits. Tar isteach linn.

Base: The very special Dylan Hotel which we are using because of its historic past. Once home to the nurses of the Royal City of Dublin Hospital with the restaurant named after Edith Annie Eddison. Edith was the matron at the hospital during the 1916 rising and ensured there was care and respite for all the wounded soldiers. Now a hotel the Dylan continues to be run by a woman. This is one of our ‘treat yourself , pamper ‘ holidays .

The hotel is a walk from St Stephens Green and the central shopping area of Grafton Street.

Price: £1,100 per person for this luxury Irish holiday to include:

  • Ensuite room – bed and breakfast in a 5 star hotel
  • A welcome dinner at the hotels Eddison Restaurant
  • Expert local guiding
  • Airport welcome and bus to the city centre

Not included:

  • Travel to Dublin
  • Lunches – we will eat together in local places
  • Evening meals on Sat and Sunday – these will be arranged by the guide to give you an experience of Irish cuisine and where possible support women run businesses.

Arrive by 12 noon on Friday to settle in to your hotel before an afternoon walk .

Departure Monday afternoon.

DETAILS

During the weekend Maria,your guide, will help you really explore Dublin. We will walk to explore the medieval city which includes the remains of the city walls, Christ Church , the Iveagh Markets and Baths , St Patricks Cathedral and Dublin Castle.

We will move on to discover Georgian Dublin and take  a visit to the Four Courts and Phoenix Park.

There will be a chance to visit the renovated dock lands of Dublin and see the sea,

No trip to Dublin would be complete without a literary tour to hear about the wealth of Irelands women writers.

We will also stop to eat in notable places – The Commons Cafe on Stephens’s Green owned and run by two sisters , Domini and Peaches Kemp. Their restaurant is within Newman House now home to the Museum of Literature of Ireland. You will have time to wander around and learn more about Irish literature. We will also visit the Trocadero located in the heart of Dublin and steeped in Irish theatre history.

 

 

 

 

ITINERARY

Walks will vary depending on weather and at the discretion of the guide.

Arrival Friday – welcome at airport between 12 noon and 13.00 .

Travel to your hotel

14.00 – 17.00 Leave the Dylan Hotel for a Highlights of Dublin Walk to include notable  Irish women and women writers. We return to the hotel.

18.00 Welcome drinks in the Dylan cocktail bar with dinner in the hotels Eddison Restaurant to follow.

Saturday – exploring Dublin with a walk around the medieval city which includes the remains of the city walls,Christchurch,the Iveagh Markets and Baths, St Patricks Cathedral and Dublin Castle. There will be time in the afternoon to wander . We will eat in local Irish restaurants.

Sunday – Discover Georgian Dublin and visit the Four Courts and Phoenix Park.

Traditional Irish Sunday lunch followed by free time to relax or take a walk  along to the sea.
