Lesbian Winter Wonderland – French Alps

SUMMARY

Date:  Saturday January 27th to Saturday February 3rd 2024 – 7 nights

Walking Grade: This is a bit of everything snowy experience – a chance to try winter hiking or snow shoeing . There are also down hill ski slopes for those who prefer skiing ( this is for those confident without an instructor and who have their own travel insurance for winter sports as it is at your own risk )

Base: Hotel La Principaute de Comborciere, La Touissuire in the French Alps and a perfect place to base ourselves for this winter wonderland trip. The hotel is run by a wife and wife team who have created a relaxing, cosy place with direct access to winter activities and with spa,hammam and jacuzzi for chilling at the end of the day. Food is local and highly rated and breakfast and dinners are all included. There is a cosy bar with pool table for get togethers.

Arrivals: Please arrive around 15.00 at the hotel for check in and settling in. We can advise on travel routes and getting from airports to the hotel. We expect women to be travelling from various destinations so on this trip there will not be one group transfer. Instead we will help arrange travel and any pick ups required at your own cost.

By Train – we recommend overland travel for this trip from the UK – via Eurostar to Paris and on by train from Gare de Lyon to Saint Jean de Maurienne Arvan. A short bus ride from the train station takes you to the hotel.

By Plane – there are 4 airports all within 1 or 2 hours away. Chambery Aix-Les-Bains. Lyon Saint Exupery , Geneva or Grenoble Saint Geoirs. Making this very accessible from any where in the world.

Departures: For the return journey we will leave the hotel after breakfast so return flights/trains best after 14.00.

Price: £1,160  per person for this special winter holiday to include:

• Solo occupancy room with a bath ( showers and toilets are shared with other WalkingWomen guests ) There is an option to upgrade to an ensuite room – £1310 pp solo or £1,240 if sharing. Let us know as you pay your deposit and we will adjust your invoice. 
• All Breakfasts and dinners at the hotel
• Snow equipment – snow shoes/toboggans ..(not ski hire)
• Experienced local guiding –  this trip is english speaking
• Local transport required

Not included:

• Travel to and from Hotel Comborciere

• Lunches – there are cafes/restaurants and we will stop during activities

DETAILS

We bring our WalkingWomen guests to a very special winter resort created in 1937 by the Fontcoverte family who wanted to share this special alpine plateau with others. Comborciere is at 1850 metres and is known as the 4th best ski area in Europe. See the map in our photos showing the slopes and activities.

The place is in the heart of nature and to get away for a while to be on snowy slopes and recharge will ensure you return feeling stronger for the year ahead. A lovely place to start 2024. Everything is in walking distance and easy to get to which we love.

During our week you will have the chance to try out a variety of winter activities. Or if you just want to look out of the window and stay by the fire or in the spa that is perfectly fine too! There will be mulled wine and a friendly bar to have that very french apero at the end of the day!

This holiday is about joining with other women to relax and enjoy the beauty of this part of the French Alps – no pressure , no stress …!

ITINERARY

This holiday will depend on weather and the interests of the women on the holiday. We will offer a variety of activities and you can choose what you do. There will be a variety of local guides.

The days will go something like this :

Saturday Jan 27th : Arrival, check in and meet in the bar for a welcome drink and briefing about the week. Meet the hotel team and have an orientation of the hotel and what’s available. 19.30ish Dinner together in the restaurant.

Sunday : Breakfast between 8 and 9.30am. Group walk to experience the area and see the different activities available and meet local guides . Lunch out together.

Evening: Free time for Spa/relaxation. 19.30 Dinner together

Monday, Tuesday – Breakfast 8-9.30am followed by winter activities of your choice.

Evenings: Free time for Spa/Relaxation. 19.30 Dinner together.

Wednesday – free day. Options will be discussed on Tuesday evening.

Thursday,Friday – Breakfast 8-9.30am followed by winter activities of your choice.

Evenings:Free time for Spa/Relaxation. 19.30 Dinner together.

We will hope to join in ‘ une retraite aux flambeaux ‘ – the local torchlight procession over the snowy slopes one evening.
