DETAILS
Come and explore the Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty – a lesser known beauty spot in England and well worth a visit.
Walk among the heather and the history, where the ancient Portway on the Long Mynd gives you views across from Wales to the Wrekin, to south Shropshire and beyond. Feel the calmness, the tranquillity, the space in which to breathe, within the natural beauty of the valleys and streams that melt away from the high heathland.
Climb Caer Caradoc and walk the ramparts of this impressive Iron Age hillfort. Enjoy the company of the many ponies that graze the land alongside the sheep – the Long Mynd has been common land for centuries.
Church Stretton is a pretty and historic market town. It became a health resort in Victorian times, nicknamed Little Switzerland, and before that was known for it’s textiles using local wool. Today it’s home to independent and interesting shops, free-house pubs, cafés and restaurants. Little Stretton, where we’ll be based, has several medieval buildings and an unusual timbered and thatched church, with easy access to stunning walking country.
