SUMMARY

Guide: Maarit our local guide with support from the WalkingWomen team throughout.

Walking Grade: Goat 2 – this is a cultural experience as well as a chance to try some arctic activities. It is not dedicated to one sport and it is for people who would like to try out new winter activities whilst meeting local people and finding out about life of the indigenous Sami community.

If snow conditions allow you will try cross country skiing, snow shoeing , ice fishing and winter hiking. You will also visit a women run reindeer farm, visit the Sami Parliament and visit the Sami Museum.

Base:  Crow Creek Cabins, Inari Village in the North of Lapland in Arctic Finland. There is an option to stay in the Hotel at an extra cost of 100 euros per night.

We stay  in a pine tree forest on the edge of Inari . It is a 1.2 km walk to the hotel where we have breakfast and our evening meals. You need to be up for walking although there is transport if conditions are especially poor. Last year our walking women enjoyed the walk especially in the evening when we had glimpses of the northern lights.

You will have your own private cabin equipped with a small kitchen and ensuite. They are rustic but extremely quiet and a peaceful stay away from any hustle and bustle.

If there are 2 of you sharing we have rooms in the hotel or the Inari Village as the cabins are a little tight for two!
