Arctic Norway and the Northern Lights 2025

Walking Grade: 1 Goat as this is an experience to discover Arctic Norway and we hope to see the Northern Lights. It will be gentle walking and exploring. It will be cold so thermals required. We can always buy the fabulous Norwegian jumpers!

Base: We start in Tromso at a Hotel in the centre of town moving on to the Mefjord Brygge Hotel, Senja Island, The Arctic.

The hotel in Mefjord Brygge is right on the sea giving clear views over the water. It is traditional Arctic Norway style accommodation in the hotel and in houses near by.

Arrivals: Fly to Tromso to arrive around 14.00. We will meet you directly in the Arctic. If you do want to travel and stay in Oslo we can help with hotels and travel plans so let us know.

Departures: Return from Tromso after 15.00

It is possible to travel overland and we are available to discuss overland routes.

Price: £TBC per person for this special holiday solo occupancy to include:

• 1 night in Tromso at the start of the trip
• Welcome Dinner Together
• 3 nights at Mefjord Brygge including :
  • Transfer Finnsnes / Lysnes round trip transfer to Mefjord Brygge
  • Private accommodation in hotel room or apartment
  • Full-board (breakfast, lunch and two-course dinner)
  • Experienced English-speaking guide local guide
  • Guided activities (daytime & nighttime)
  • Use of sauna and hot tub in free time
  • Express boat from Tromsø to Finnsnes on way up and a trip on the Hurtigruten Post Boat on the return
  • 2 nights accommodation at a central Hotel in Tromsø incl breakfast
  • Final Evening Meal together

DETAILS

We will start in Tromso and travel further north to Mefjord Brygge which is in the heart of nature and where we hope we have the best chance to see the northern lights. It is a small village with expansive skies and we stay by the sea. Mefjord Brygge is located on the outer part of Senja, surrounded by stunning mountains and fjords in the old fishing village Mefjordvær with local life going on.

Some highlights of this trip:

• Time spent in Tromso – the gateway to the Arctic. With culture, history and the chance to see the Northern Lights

• A trip on a cable car in Tromso if the weather is good

ITINERARY

Itinerary may change depending on the weather and at the discretion of the guide. Your guide will discuss the next days activities with you each evening and in the morning as things may change overnight with the varied weather in the Artic.

Day 1  Saturday : Arrive in Tromso  – welcome, briefing and evening together

Day 2  Sunday: Travel to Mefjord Brygge. We take an Express Boat from Tromso to Finnsnes. We will be picked up by bus and the journey is 1 hour to Mefjord Brygge.

Times may change depending on the weather. We will confirm in your final travel information pack.

Day 2 –  5 Sunday to Wednesday: Mefjord Brygge for 3 nights with guided activities

Day 5 Wednesday : Return after breakfast to Tromso leaving Finnsnes on the wonderful Hurtigruten Ferry.

Day 5- 7 Wednesday to Friday: Tromso with guided activities to explore the Sami culture, the history of this Artic Town and have free time to wander the streets.
