THIS HOLIDAY IS FULLY BOOKED. WE RETURN NEXT YEAR SO DO REGISTER INTEREST. We have had so many women ask us about winter warmth and requesting a holiday to warmer climes. We know La Gomera well and this can be just the place for a few days in their sunny winter. We are being spontaneous and Rene our local guide is waiting. Can we tempt you? Flights at this time are currently cheap. From London they are between £70 and £233. You can go for a shorter or longer time and we would adjust the price. We can help advise on all travel.

SUMMARY

Dates: Wednesday Feb 14th to Tuesday  February 20th – 6 nights and 7 days

Guide: Rene Van Der Walt your local host and guide.

Walking Grade: 2 Goats with a variety of walks on offer. There will be Goat 1 easy walks for those who want to relax and slow down.

Base: Hotel Jardín Tecina, Playa De Santiago, La Gomera – a 4 star hotel with its own eco finca providing 100% organic food at El Laurel restaurant. There is a spa and 5 swimming pools and views of the ocean. There are tennis courts and golf courses if you are active and there are lots of free activities on offer such as wine tasting, painting, guided tours about the hotel and its eco garden. On arrival you will be briefed on the hotel and the surrounding area and all it has to offer.

Arrival :  Ideally arrive at Tenerife South at 14.30 ish to catch the 16.00 Ferry from Tenerife to La Gomera . The next Fred Olsen one is not until 21.00 and would mean a very late arrival. There are EasyJet Flights from Gatwick leaving at 9.55am getting you to Tenerife South for 14.25 and Jet2 from Stansted has a flight at 9.45 arriving 14.30 into Tenerife South –  perfect!

We need to connect with the ferry to La Gomera which has approx 3 crossings daily with the last one at 22.00 although sometimes earlier in the winter. The crossing takes about 55 minutes. We aim to arrive at our hotel for a welcome briefing and dinner together on Wednesday.

If you cannot get flights to connect with this transfer we can sort travel for you at an additional cost for the taxi to the ferry. We will send you clear instructions and if there are others travelling at the same time we will connect you for a taxi from the airport to the ferry port ( 15 minutes and approx 10 euros) The ferry will be included what ever time you travel and we will book this for you.

If you decide to stay extra nights in Tenerife either before or after your holiday – or both. We can help book hotels and arrange taxi’s which we will add to your invoice.

Departure: If you have a flight before 16.00 you will need to get a 7am ferry and leave the hotel around 6am.

We recommend the 14.00 ferry and a flight around 17.00

We will organise and pay for 2 return transfers.

If you want to travel at a different time your ferry ticket is still included but you will need to cover your own taxi from the port in Tenerife to the airport (approx 10 euros)

It is possible to fly from London or regional airports or we can help with travel wherever you are in the world. Last year some people enjoyed a night in Tenerife before travelling on to La Gomera – we can recommend places to stay.

Flights from London on these dates are currently between £70 and £233 return.

Price: £1750 per person for a solo occupancy room. If you bring a friend and share there is £150 discount per person. Total per person £1600 when sharing. We will adjust your invoice once you have paid your deposit.

DETAILS

La Gomera is the second smallest of the main islands in Spain’s Canary Islands. It is known for its volcanic mountains and hiking trails that criss cross the islands taking you to hidden places. There are ocean views all around as the island is located in the Atlantic Ocean. La Gomera is the destination if you are looking for peace and quiet away from the crowds. This is the place for some winter sun and outdoor activity in lush landscape. We will explore the Garajonay National Park, a Unesco World Heritage Site since 2021. It has been designated a Biosphere Reserve along with the rest of the island. There will also be rest time to explore nearby towns or the capital city of San Sebastián de La Gomera.

For swimmers there is the beach and many coves around the island to explore. The hotel also has a spa and 5 swimming pools to relax after walking or to simply chill in your free time. There are also many free activities on offer which will be explained to you at your arrival briefing.

The people of La Gomera pride themselves on their fresh and unspoiled food and wine. The Atlantic Ocean offers a variety of fresh fish and for vegetarians there is a wealth of fruit and vegetables grown locally. Some speciality products are palm honey, Gofio (a flour made from roasted grain), Gomeran cheese and their very own Malvasia wine. There will be plenty of time to experience the local cuisine.

There are also local producers of La Gomera coffee, cheeses, honey and other products which your guide can introduce you to.

ITINERARY

These days are to give you a chance to escape into warmth and blue skies. There will be a mix of easy and moderate walks and some cultural activities. You will get the chance to taste the local wine and eat tapas – a true taste of La Gomera.

Your days start at 9.30am but there is flexibility depending on the group. We want this to be a completely nourishing, reviving break to set you up for the year!

The walks are planned to allow people to shorten their walks if they feel like it and be picked up to be taken back to the hotel. This will allow for some longer more stretching walks for those that want them but also allow others to experience the fantastic scenery but do lesser walks if their choice is to relax more. This is a relax and slow down break.

There is a free time to just relax, have a spa, a massage, walk locally from the hotel or just rest by the pool and read.

If you are a golfer there is a golf course next to the hotel and you can book at the hotel reception. You can hire golf clubs.  There are also tennis courts at the hotel so bring kit if you would like to do additional sports activities.
