Get Goat Fit with WalkingWomen: Embrace the Joy of Walking and Build Confidence

At WalkingWomen, we are on a mission to provide women of all ages with opportunities to embrace the great outdoors, get goat-fit, and experience the many benefits of walking. Whether you are an experienced hiker or a beginner looking to take the first steps towards a healthier lifestyle, our 8-week plan is designed to help you build confidence and test fitness. We want you to choose the right holiday for you – and simply to be the fittest you!

What is “Goat Fit”?

Before we dive into the details of our  8-week plan, you might be wondering what “Goat Fit” means. It’s a fun term we’ve coined, inspired by the agility and tenacity of mountain goats that gracefully navigate challenging terrains. Being “Goat Fit” implies being physically and mentally prepared for various levels of walking challenges, enabling you to conquer diverse landscapes with ease and joy.

The 8-Week Goat Fit Plan

Our 8-week plan, which you can find here on our website, is a comprehensive guide carefully curated to help you progress from gentle walks to more challenging terrains, step by step. The plan takes into account different fitness levels and walking experiences, ensuring that each participant finds the right balance of challenge and comfort throughout the journey. By the end of the program, you’ll be amazed at how far you’ve come!

To add to our Get Goat Fit plan; we have also started running Get Goat Fit Days and short holidays, where women can get together with our expert guides to do various goat-level hikes. We have Get Goat Fit hikes in the Lakes, in Yorkshire, in Surrey, with more to come – keep an eye on our website under the Get Goat Fit section Get Goat Fit.

Our Get Goat Fit Box Hill hikes with Carla

We recently started Day Walks on Box Hill in Surrey, led by one of our guides, Carla. We choose this location as it is the only place not so far from London where you can test walking upwards! We wanted to give those who don’t usually get the chance to hike hills to try some.

Carla took a group of enthusiastic women on an invigorating hike, not just to enjoy the picturesque scenery but to build their confidence in their walking abilities. Walking with Carla is a treat as she brings her expertise, encouragement, and passion for the outdoors to each adventure.

Due to the overwhelming response and success of this trip, Carla will be leading another group on September 9th this year and in 2024 on Wednesday, April 10th, May 18th and June 22nd. So, if you missed the chance last time, mark your calendars and join her on one of these days.

The Joy of Walking with Others

Surrey England

Walking with other women creates a special camaraderie that’s difficult to find elsewhere. It offers a chance to make new friends, share experiences, and build a supportive community. WalkingWomen.com provides a safe and friendly environment where you can be yourself, connect with others, and encourage each other on the path to becoming Goat Fit!

Supporting Kids for Kids Charity

At WalkingWomen, we believe in giving back where we can. Last year we chose Kids for Kids as our charity partner as we have so much in common – run by women, knowing the importance of goats, and we totally believe in their mission. So as part of our commitment to them, we contribute a percentage of the fee from our Get Goat Day walks in Surrey (where they are based) to Kids for Kids. By participating in our walks, you are not just investing in your own well-being but also making a positive impact on the lives of vulnerable children. Check out their inspiring work at https://www.kidsforkids.org.uk/ and see how we all can make a difference together.

The Benefits of Walking for Women

Goat Fit - Silhouette
Walking is a beautiful activity that brings numerous physical and mental benefits. For women, especially as they age, regular walking can play a vital role in maintaining overall health and well-being. It helps to strengthen bones, improve cardiovascular health, manage weight, boost mood, and reduce stress levels. Walking is also a low-impact exercise, making it accessible to people of all fitness levels. With Sara and I both now 60,and over, we keep walking central to our lives with Sara walking 25km on a day walk recently. Keep those legs moving is our motto!

And a final thought …

Embrace the opportunity to get Goat Fit with WalkingWomen.com, where we encourage you to explore new horizons, push your boundaries, and build lasting memories with like-minded women. Don’t hesitate to join Carla and our other inspiring guides one or the upcoming walks or holidays and experience the joy of walking while gaining confidence in your abilities.

So, put on those walking shoes, gather your spirit of adventure, and let’s embark on a journey of self-discovery together. See you on the trails!
