Arctic Norway and the Northern Lights 2025

Walking Grade: 1 Goat as this is an experience to discover Arctic Norway and we hope to see the Northern Lights. It will be gentle walking and exploring. It will be cold so thermals required. You can always buy the fabulous Norwegian jumpers!

Base: We start in Tromso at a Hotel in the centre of town for 2 nights before moving on to the Mefjord Brygge Hotel, Senja Island, The Arctic.

The hotel in Mefjord Brygge is right on the sea giving clear views over the water. It is traditional Arctic Norway style accommodation in the hotel. This year we have solo occupancy ensuite rooms in the hotel.

Arrivals: Fly to Tromso to arrive in time for an evening meal together. We will meet you directly in the Arctic. There are many flights from Oslo to Tromso so do get the one to suit your travel plans – it is straight forward to get from Tromso Airport to your hotel.

If you do want to travel and stay in Oslo we can help with hotels and travel plans so let us know.

Departures: Return from Tromso after 15.00

It is possible to travel overland and we are available to discuss overland routes.

The price to the Arctic has increased in 2025 due to the popularity of Tromso and the Artic. Mefjord Brygge is off the beaten track and does give a special experience that is really unique and we want to offer our walking women this experience.

If you bring a partner/friend and share a room the price is £2235 and we will adjust your invoice once you have paid your deposit.

  • Transfer Finnsnes / Lysnes  express boat transfer to Mefjord Brygge

DETAILS

We will start in Tromso and travel further north to Mefjord Brygge which is in the heart of nature and where we hope we have the best chance to see the northern lights. It is a small village with expansive skies and we stay by the sea. Mefjord Brygge is located on the outer part of Senja, surrounded by stunning mountains and fjords in the old fishing village Mefjordvær with local life going on.

ITINERARY

Itinerary may change depending on the weather and at the discretion of the guide. Your guide will discuss the next days activities with you each evening and in the morning as things may change overnight with the varied weather in the Artic.

Day 1  Arrive in Tromso  – welcome, briefing and evening together

Day 2 Full day of activities in Tromso including a Sami Excursion.

Day 3  Travel to Mefjord Brygge. We take an Express Boat from Tromso to Finnsnes. We will be picked up by bus and the journey is 1 hour to Mefjord Brygge.

Day 4-7  Mefjord Brygge for 3 nights with guided activities

Day 7 Friday : Return after breakfast to Tromso leaving Finnsnes on the wonderful Hurtigruten Ferry.

Arrive back in Tromso early afternoon depending on boat schedule. Book flights or onward travel after 16.00.
