DETAILS
Seahouses is a village on the coast of Northumberland – a 10 minute drive or a 3 mile walk to Bamburgh beach. The beach was named one of the most beautiful beaches in the world and we think this makes it just the right location for a doggy beach holiday. An expansive sandy beach ideal for stretching those doggy and human legs!
Bamburgh Castle is nearby which is one of the most important Anglo-Saxon archaeological sites in the world and can be visited whilst you are there. Dogs are allowed on leads in the grounds but sadly not inside the castle.
Bamburgh was also the birth place of Grace Darling one of the Victorian era’s most celebrated heroines – she worked in her families lighthouse and risked her own life at aged 22 to rescue stranded survivors of a wrecked steamship. She became known internationally for her bravery and received a Gold Medal of Bravery. At only 26 she died from tuberculosis and her funeral took place at St Aidan’s church in Bamburgh.
You can hear more of her story at the RNLI Grace Darling Museum in Bamburgh. https://rnli.org/about-us/our-history/timeline/1838-grace-darling
With plenty to see and do in the area we think this is an ideal spot for a beach doggy holiday . There are also lots of dog friendly places to take a rest and drink a cuppa or try a local brew.
