We are encouraging Travel by Train – do read a post from our NEWS  section on our website The Joy of Train Travel

And we have our new train guru who is compiling route maps for some of our holidays. Keep an eye on this page and always request help if you need it.

To note: for all our overseas holidays we will pick up from both the main airport and the main station closest to your destination. This will be clear on your travel information.

Meet Teresa

Train Travel

Teresa is an avid train traveller and has made her way to several WalkingWomen holidays by train including from Clifton Down to Dalseter in Norway. We are lucky that Teresa has tested some routes and is happy to share her experience with other travellers.

Read this route she wrote for us – England to Dalseter, Espedalen approx 3 hours North of Oslo. Oslo is interesting for a stopover and perhaps Lillehammer.

Check out her trip on the blog she wrote Teresa’s England to Norway Trip

The Man in Seat 61

Mark Smith is the expert behind The Man in Seat 61 website. He created the site after working as a station manager, and in customer relations, at Britsh Rail and the Department  of Transport. The website is a wealth of information and Mark is very happy it is shared widely. When asked what his favourite journeys were he said The Caledonian Sleeper London to Fort William ( perfect to get to our Scotland Cairngorms holiday) and the Swiss Bernina Express (a must if you have time when you join one of our Swiss, Austrian, Italian holidays)
