This is part of our series of Get Goat Fit events.You can come for a day walk or stay overnight for 2 days of lovely pennine walking in Hebden Bridge, West Yorkshire. A chance to test out how you feel doing walks at this level with your experienced guide Jo making sure the pace is right and giving supportive encouragement as you go!  There will be hills (taken at a gentle pace), some rough ground and a few stiles. You can use the walks to help you get fit for a walking holiday, to meet one of our guides, or to see how you might feel joining a walking women holiday!

Meeting Point:10.30am start at Hebden Bridge railway station. 

Hebden Bridge has great transport connections with trains running from Leeds, Manchester, Chester, Preston and many more.

Price: £25 per person for specialist guided walking to build confidence and test fitness levels

Please bring packed lunch, water and  a thermos.

For those who would like to stay over and do the Sunday walk there is a range of accommodation available in local B&Bs (including Jo’s own B&B at Thorncliffe), and at the Hebden Bridge independent hostel. We can advise.

For those who do stay over Jo will join you for an evening meal at a local restaurant.

DETAILS

Hebden Bridge is a pretty market town in the Upper Calder Valley, West Yorkshire. It is 8 miles west of Halifax which has become very well known as the home of Anne Lister at Shibden Hall. If you have time this could be a place to visit and stay a while.

It is a lovely place to stay so if you would like to make a weekend of it we can help.

ITINERARY

Itinerary – subject to change depending on the weather and at the discretion of your guide.

Saturday 18th March – Meet at 10.30am at Hebden Bridge Railway Station

 A wonderful walk up to the ancient village of Heptonstall, visiting the grave of Sylvia Plath as we go.   We will then follow old packhorse paths to join the Pennine Way.   Crossing high meadow land, we will then start the route down to the pretty canal and back to vibrant Hebden Bridge with its many cafes and small shops. A wonderful place for a cuppa or a local beer to end the day.

11km, 350m ascent (7 miles, 1150 ft ascent).
