Christmas in La Gomera 2023

SUMMARY

Dates: Tuesday December 19th to Tuesday  26th December.

We have a second week on offer Friday 29th Dec to Friday January 5th as a stand alone holiday or for those who might like a longer break over this period. We can arrange for you to stay on at the hotel for an additional 3 nights and join all or some of the new year week.

Let us know and we can organise a holiday to suit you. This holiday can be arranged at other times of the year as a private group holiday – minimum 6 people.

Walking Grade: 2 Goats with a variety of walks to explore the island.

Base: Hotel Jardín Tecina, Playa De Santiago, La Gomera – a 4 star hotel with its own eco finca providing 100% organic food at El Laurel restaurant. There is a spa and 5 swimming pools and views of the ocean. There are tennis courts and golf courses if you are active and there are lots of free activities on offer such as wine tasting,painting, guided tours about the hotel and a tour of its eco garden. There are even star gazing evenings to learn about the night sky over the Canaries. Just a walk away is a beach where you can swim in the sea and there is a pretty little village for a cuppa/drink afterwards.

On arrival you will be briefed on the hotel and the surrounding area and  all there is on offer.

Arrival : arrive in Tenerife South airport for the group transfer at 14.00ish.

Easy Jet has a range of flights from London Gatwick and London Luton  to Tenerife South for under £200 at the moment. Others have booked 09.25 arriving Tenerife South at 13.55 and departing 14.40 from Tenerife South. Do try and connect with these times.

We need to connect with the ferry to La Gomera which has approx 6 crossings daily with the last one at 22.00 although sometimes earlier in the winter. The crossing takes about 55 minutes and it is a lovely trip. We aim to arrive at our hotel for an orientation walk around the hotel and a welcome dinner together.

Departure: after breakfast with a group transfer to the port , the ferry and a mini bus from Tenerife Port back to Tenerife South. Plan to travel after 14.00.

It is possible to fly from London or regional airports or we can help you with your travel arrangements from wherever your are in the world. Our travel concierge service can also help with any extensions to your holiday. Last year some people enjoyed a night in Tenerife before travelling on to La Gomera – this can be arranged for you.

Price: £1,999 for an all inclusive very special get way for the festive season break.

If you are with a partner/ friend and share a room the price per person is £1,849. We will adjust your booking after the deposit is paid.

• Transfer from Tenerife South Airport to the Hotel by taxi and ferry
• 7 nights at Hotel Jardin Tecina ensuite, single occupancy rooms ( if you would like a superior sea view room we will add £135 for the week  to your invoice – very special to wake up to an extensive view of the ocean)
• Extensive buffet breakfast each morning in the restaurant overlooking the ocean.
• Lunches on hiking/tour days
• Buffet Evening meals in the restaurant with a wide choice of local, vegetarian, fish and meat options. There are several other restaurants at the hotel or in the nearby village for those wanting a change from the buffet (these are not included)
• 4 days hiking with experienced local guide to include pick up and return to the hotel and picnic lunches.
• 1 day tour to include Whale Watching

DETAILS

La Gomera is the second smallest of the main islands in Spain’s Canary Islands. It is known for its volcanic mountains and hiking trails that criss cross the islands taking you to hidden places. There are ocean views all around as the island is located in the Atlantic Ocean. La Gomera is the destination if you are looking for peace and quiet away from the crowds. This is the place for some winter sun and outdoor activity in lush landscape. We will explore the Garajonay National Park a Unesco world heritage site since 2021. It has been designated a Biosphere Reserve along with the rest of the island. There will also be rest time to explore nearby towns or the capital city of San Sebastián de La Gomera.

For swimmers there is the beach and many coves around the island to explore. The hotel also has a spa and 5 swimming pools to relax after walking or to simply chill in your free time. There are also many free activities on offer which will be explained to you at your arrival briefing.

The people of La Gomera pride themselves on their fresh and unspoiled food and wine. The Atlantic Ocean offers a variety of fresh fish and for vegetarians there is a wealth of fruit and vegetables grown locally. Some speciality products are palm honey,Gofio (a flour made from roasted grain) Gomeran cheese and their very own Malvasia wine. There will be plenty of time to experience the local cuisine.

There are also local producers of La Gomera coffee, cheeses, honey and other products which your guide can introduce you to.

ITINERARY

Rene your guide will discuss with you and decide on which 4 walks you will do depending on the weather. 

Walks start at 9.30am on the 4 walking days. The walks are planned to allow people to shorten their walks if they feel like it and be picked up to be taken back to the hotel. This will allow for longer more stretching walks for those that want them but also allow others to experience the fantastic scenery but do lesser walks if their choice is to relax more. This is a ‘ get away ‘ break.

There is a free day in the middle to just relax , have a spa , a massage , walk locally from the hotel or just rest by the pool and read.

Whale Watching is included on December 21st – a very special ocean trip..
