THIS IS A TROUBLE CLUB PRIVATE TRIP - THIS TIME TO EXPLORE THE LOVELY LAKE DISTRICT OF ENGLAND. Expect great walks, fantastic local food and a cosy hotel in the heart of Borrowdale. It’s a place for an Autumn relax and revive.

SUMMARY

Dates: Friday October 16th to Friday Oct 23rd – 7 nights and 8 days.

Walking Grade: 2 Goats

Base: Glaramara Hotel, Seatoller, Borrowdale, near Keswick.

Nearest Train station is Penrith 25 miles from the hotel – transport can be arranged via the hotel – a taxi for a group is approx £50 return.

StageCoach is the local bus service and has an excellent app with all the bus times. From Penrith to Keswick Bus Station is approx 1 hour. It is the X5 bus route. From there there are buses every 30 minutes to Seatoller and the journey is 20 minutes. Ask the bus driver to drop you off at the end of the drive to Glaramara.

There is good parking for those coming by car.

Price: £1900 per person for your holiday inclusive of

  • Full board ensuite accommodation in a double room for solo occupancy
  • All meals – breakfast, packed lunch and evening meal.
  • Experienced local guiding with walks on 6 days
  • Local Transport required for walks
  • Welcome drink

Not included:

  • Travel to Glaramara Hotel

If you share a room it is £1700 per person.

We do have a few single rooms(single bed)  available at a discounted price of £1700 per person for the week.

DETAILS

Glaramara is an ideal base with commanding views of the Borrowdale Fells. Beautiful,varied walks on the doorstep and stunning views all around make this an ideal spot.

The hotel is so welcoming with relaxing spaces and cosy corners to enjoy a cuppa, a local beer or whatever tipple takes your fancy. The full board menu has tasty local food and plenty of it. An interesting feature is the display of local art adorning the walls – some for sale to support the local artists. En-suite bedrooms give comfort at the end of the day so enjoyed after a good days walking.

You will have the chance to really experience what this area has to offer.

 

ITINERARY

The itinerary is varied to show you the best of Borrowdale and the surrounding area. We always say Trust Your Guide as she will make sure you have a great experience. Walks can vary depending on the weather.

Day 1 The first day will be arrival and a chance to settle in. Arrive by 5pm for your welcome briefing at 18.00 with your guide .

During the week you will have a daily walk to explore the area from low level walks to getting up on the tops. An example of some of the walks are here and your guide will brief you each evening. Walks will vary depending on the weather .

Castle Crag Circular along the Cumbria Way from the door of the hotel. A good warm up of 8km – approx 3 hours.

Great Crag, Dock Tarn and Watendlath Circular – a longer walk of 11km – approx 4 hours

Langstrath Valley and Black Moss Pot – 11km approx 4 hours

We will also aim to do some longer hikes:

Buttermere lakeside circuit

The Honister Pass, Dale Head and High Spry Summits

Derwent Water Loop from Keswick

Seathwaite Fell Loop from the hotel – 16km 5-6 hours and a good stretch

There will be an option to hike Scafeld Pike for those who would like a climb.

All walks are subject to change depending on weather. You are in the capable hands of the guide who will adapt accordingly.
