SUMMARY
Dates: Saturday 10th October to Friday 16th October – 6 nights and 7 days with 5 days hiking, yoga and massage for your perfect well being break.

Walking Grade: We grade this 2 Goats because we are in a mountainous area and there is some ascent and descent beyond Goat 1 Level but not more than 400 metres, The distances are Goat 1 level up to 5 miles/ 8km. All walks are steady as this holiday is to slow down, relax and be in beautiful nature – you will walk gently with lots of time to stop and enjoy views, swim in the sea, have a traditional Spanish lunch and soak up this nourishing place.
We have walking poles available for those who need them but don’t want to pack them.
Maximum distance: 7km
Maximum ascent: up to 600 metres on 1 walk. Others maximum 300m.
Terrain: coastal paths , some rocky paths, old aqueducts , good promenade paths

- La Herradurra itself – a traditional Andalusian seaside village with whitewashed houses, little cafes and restaurants amd a very relaxed pace

- The proximity to Malaga and Granada ( both 1 hour away ) – a must to visit if you can extend your visit. We can organise everything.
Base: Finca Indigo, is a new retreat centre we have discovered and perfect for WalkingWomen – an oasis of calm overlooking the Mediterranean. It provides a comfortable , character filled rooms in the restored farmhouse buildings – all beautifully designed with the most modern facilities – showers, air conditioning, heating, tea and coffee facilities and garden or sea views.

The Finca has 10 rooms for one or two people – all set in 1.4 hectares of mature gardens. There are 2 small pools for refreshing dips, a massage room , yoga space and places to sit to simply enjoy the views, read a book, chat together. Meals will be together at the Finca and there is an honesty bar available.
Arrival: La Herradurra is 1 hour from Malaga Airport. We will arrange one airport transfer to pick up around 16.00 at Malaga Airport. Please book flights to meet this transfer.
Departure: There will be an airport transfer leaving the Finca at approximately 10:00. Please book flights to leave at 13.00 at the earliest.
If you would like to stay on for a weekend in Malaga, Granada or further afield we can help arrange this. We have hotels we use and can recommend our local guides in Malaga and Granada ( Victoria is an Alhambra guide and we highly recommend this for a visit)

DETAILS
La Herradura is a place we know well on the Mediterranean Coast known as the Costa Tropical in Andalucia, Spain. It is easy to get to by plane to Malaga , or by train as the train service is good in Spain with connecting high speed trains from Madrid to Malaga in 2 hours 40 minutes.
This trip is designed to give you calm, tranquillity, beautiful peaceful hiking plus some yoga and massage to improve wellbeing and leave you feeling nourished and uplifted. It is a chance to get away from it all and spend time with other women to walk, talk, have quiet time and to be active. We all need this!
ITINERARY
Itinerary – this is subject to change depending on the weather and at the discretion of the guide. The days walking will be discussed with the group the evening before and may vary depending on the group and the weather. We always trust the local knowledge of our guide and guests need flexibility and a spirit of adventure.
Arrival to Malaga Airport for a group transfer at 16.00. Met by WalkingWomen.
1 hour transfer , settle in to Finca Indigo, orientation walk around the property followed by Welcome drink at 19.00 with our evening meal together.
1. La Herradura Gentle Coastal Walk (Gentle start to test your legs!)
A relaxed and easy coastal walk around La Herradura bay, perfect as a softer walking day or introduction to the area. The route follows easy trails and quiet paths with beautiful views across the bay and surrounding hills.
There is plenty of time to stop, take photos, and enjoy the slower pace and atmosphere of the Mediterranean coast.
Distance: Approx. 4–5 km
Duration: 2–2.5 hours. Elevation:100-150m
Highlights: Easy terrain, coastal views, relaxed pace
2. El Cañuelo Coastal Walk
A beautiful circular coastal walk in the Cerro Gordo Natural Area, offering some of the most spectacular sea views in Andalusia. The route follows cliffside paths through Mediterranean vegetation, with constant views of hidden coves and turquoise water.
We descend towards the secluded El Cañuelo beach, where there is time to rest, swim (weather permitting), or simply enjoy the peaceful atmosphere before looping back.
Distance: Approx. 6 km
Duration: 3–3.5 hours. Elevation: approx 300m
Highlights: Coastal cliffs, hidden beach, panoramic sea views
3. Frigiliana & The Old Aqueducts Walk
A scenic countryside walk near the white village of Frigiliana, following historic irrigation channels and old aqueducts that once supplied water to the area. The route combines Andalusian history, quiet nature, and beautiful mountain and coastal views.
The walk passes through olive groves, terraces, and peaceful rural paths, offering a more authentic side of the region.
Distance: Approx. 6–7 km
Duration: 3–4 hours. Elevation:approx 250m
Highlights: Historic aqueducts, traditional countryside, views over Frigiliana and the coast
4. El Fuerte & Acebuchal Walk
A circular mountain walk above Frigiliana leading towards El Fuerte, with wide open views across the sierras and coastline. The terrain is varied but manageable at a relaxed and comfortable pace. We will offer an alternative option for those who might not want to hike this level of elevation and would like a different activity.
The day includes a visit to the restored mountain hamlet of Acebuchal, where guests can enjoy an traditional lunch in a local restaurant.
Distance: Approx. 7 km
Duration: 3–4 hours (plus optional lunch stop). Elevation: approx 450-600m
Highlights: Mountain scenery, peaceful trails, authentic Andalusian village atmosphere
5. Barranco de la Luna Canyon Walk
A more adventurous walk through a beautiful hidden canyon landscape, following rocky paths and natural formations shaped by water over time. This route offers a completely different atmosphere from the coastal walks — quieter, wilder, and more intimate.
Ideal for guests looking for something unique and slightly off the beaten path.
Distance: Approx. 5–6 km
Duration: Around 3 hours. Elevation: approx 120 – 180m.
Highlights: Canyon scenery, rock formations, hidden natural landscapes
Departure: Group Transfer to Malaga Airport after breakfast at 10am .
We can arrange onward travel to Granada or other destinations for an extra cost.
