Glaramara Hotel is situated 7 miles south of Keswick in the picturesque hamlet of Seatoller in the Borrowdale Valley. Such impressive scenery with wonderful walks and swimming dip places a walk from the door. Or for those who just love to be in nature in the company of other women then it’s a peaceful place to sit and soak in the views!

It is possible to travel by public transport – we have tried it! Trains go from all over the country to Penrith then a regular bus service links to Keswick and on to Borrowdale. For bus information StageCoach has a good App helping you plan your journey. If flying from abroad Manchester or Newcastle are nearest airports or from any London airport you can travel from London Euston Station to Penrith.Or as one intrepid traveller did this year you can fly into London Heathrow and hire a car!

Glaramara is ideally located for a wide variety of walks from the famous peaks of Scafell Pike, Great Gable, Haystacks and Glaramara itself to plenty of lowland walks within Borrowdale. This is the reason for ‘a little bit of everything’ grading. Our guides will run a varied programme each day so you can pick what feels right on the day! They know the area and you can be sure the programme will be inspiring and leave you feeling you have discovered this gorgeous place.

There are clear paths up to visit Tarns  and to walk across Maiden Moor. There are the famous Borrowdale oak woods to be explored on the banks of the River Derwent. There are lots of National Trust sites and gardens to visit so variety really will be the spice !

Expect to have a choice of 2 walks each day to suit your level. We may also do some walks together with options to return earlier or stop more as we have guides who can accompany different groups at different stages.
