In some sections paths are narrow and there are steep uphill and downhill stretches which could become slippery if rain – bring walking poles if you need them. We walk on the side of hills but no cliff edges.
Max distance: 12km/8 miles
Highlights: Being in the heart of nature with peace and tranquillity, beautiful walks all around, local homemade food and wine. Proximity to Venice if you would like to extend your stay.
Base: Agriturismo La Bella, Follina is a farmhouse run by Elisa and her mother in one of the most beautiful villages in Italy. We stay in the heart of the Prosecco Hills, UNESCO World Heritage territory and producer of DOCG Prosecco and other Italian sparkling wines. The accommodation has a restaurant and Elisa is the chef creating wonderful local dishes from the farm produce.
There are 25 rooms in a beautifully restored hillside country house. Each room is spacious and with all the comforts for a perfect stay. There are in room bath facilities (en-suite) and views to the hills.
A hearty breakfast is served before our day starts with home made bread, fruit juices made from farm fruit and eggs from the free range chickens. What a nourishing start to the day!
Arrivals: There will be one group transfer arranged from Venice Marco Polo Airport AT approx 16.00. The transfer to our accommodation is approx 1 hour and we arrive in time to settle in and have dinner together.

DETAILS
Set between Venice and the Dolomites, the Prosecco Hills are an undiscovered world. Centuries of agriculture have modeled the landscape into one of the most beautiful sceneries among the hills of Italy. Steep slopes covered in vineyards, deciduous forests and streams of water, give birth to the highest quality of Prosecco.
The hills became part of UNESCO world heritage in 2019, thanks to their unique features: a mosaic of vineyards, little towns and forests, grassy terraces and hogback ridges.
Despite Prosecco being well known all around the world, the region is still quiet and authentic, far away from big tourist circuits. A wonderful walking place!
ITINERARY
Our itinerary could change depending on the weather and at your guides discretion. Vania will brief you each day if there are to be any changes. On all WalkingWomen holidays we say bring your spirit of adventure and trust your guide as they know their area and will guide you to give you the best experience.
DAY 1 – ARRIVAL – Pick up at Venice Marco Polo airport around 16.00
Settle in , Briefing and dinner together
DAY 2 – THE HILLS OF FARRA DI SOLIGO Approx 11km – 430m of ascent and descent. In some sections the trail narrows and requires walking in single file. If the ground is wet a few stretches could be slippy so walking poles are advised on this day.
On the first day we explore the hills of Farra di Soligo, where we find some of the most spectacular views of the Prosecco Hills.
The walk starts at the foot of the hills and takes us all the way to the top. We will be walking through a gorge that ends in a small waterfall, we will be walking through woods and vineyards. Some ascents will be steep, and will lead us to understand the hard work that farmers have been doing for centuries, creating a solid connection with the landscape.
Once on the ridge, on an undulating path we will reach one of the gems of this area: the small Sanctuary of Collagù.
After a picnic lunch we will walk back to the Agriturismo.
DAY 3 – MONTELLO HILL AND ITS TREASURE – Circular walk – 8 km – 280 m up and down. This walk is a fairly gentle one.
Montello Hill is the first hill you see when you are driving from Venice towards the mountains. It is full of history and natural beauties.
We start our walk from the bottom at Nervesa della Battaglia and after a little climb, we reach the remains of the Sant’Eustachio Abbey. For centuries it ruled the area, being one of the most powerful religious centers of the Treviso province.
The walk then takes us to one of the monuments of the hill that reminds us of the battles fought during the First World War.
We continue through the shade of woods. The Hill was ruled for centuries by the Venetian Republic and it used to be nursery for oak trees that were used to build ships in Venetian shipyards.
We end our walk with a visit to a winery and cheese maker where we have a light lunch.
DAY 4 – THE ASOLO HILLS AND PICTURESQUE ASOLO. Approx 11km – 480m ascent and 430m descent. We walk entirely in the woods. The first part is uphill but once we reach the ridge the path is mostly undulating with the trail narrowing as we walk along the hillside.
Today we explore another range of hills of the area, the Asolo Hills, which are the connection between the plain and the mountains.
We will start our walk in Cornuda, where a wide path will take us to the ridge of the hills. The undulating path takes us from one end to the other of the range, with some views on the mountains and the plain.
We have our packed lunch at the little chapel dedicated to St. George. On a clear day you can spot the lagoon of Venice.
The walk finally leads us to Asolo, home for many artists and famous characters like Robert Browning and Freya Stark. The town is considered one of the most beautiful of the region, with its alleys and historical buildings.
Bus back to the Agriturismo.
DAY 5 – FREE DAY to visit Treviso, Venice or Padova or to relax at your accommodation. There could be an option of a cookery class at the Agtiturismo.
DAY 6 – THE HEART OF THE PROSECCO HILLS approx 10km – 400m ascent and descent.
Today’s circular walk takes us through the hills and towns around Valdobbiadene, immersed in the iconic terraced Prosecco vineyards. The route includes some steep ascents and descents, with sections of loose stones underfoot, and rewards us with beautiful views over the surrounding hills and valleys.
DAY 7 – THE LAKES OF REVINE – walk approx 8km. 250m up and down.
For our last day our walk takes us to the Lakes of Revine, the only ones in the Prosecco area. We will begin the walk along the lakeshore, then head toward the foothills of the Prealps. From there, we will climb up to reach the Big Bench via a short, steep trail. From this spot, the views over the lakes and the Prosecco hills are fantastic. We then descend along a dirt road back toward the lakes. Walking through old stony houses and on a path by the water, we will complete the loop and stop for a delicious lunch by the water. In the afternoon, sun loungers will be available for relaxing and enjoying a swim in the lake or in the pool.
For those who want a more gentle walk there is the option to take a stroll by the lake and meet us for lunch.
A great finale to our week!
DAY 8 – DEPARTURE – Transfer to Venice airport after breakfast at 11am. Book flights after 14:00.
For earlier departures we can arrange earlier taxi at an additional cost.
